Burnout Paradise bike pack detailed

Posted under News by Jake Rowe on 31 August 2008 51 views

Criterion have released a load of info about the next new update for Burnout Paradise. Due out in September this new update will allow players to use Bikes in game and also adds night-time to Paradise city.

“Selecting one of the bikes triggers a whole load of new gameplay,”

This new update also includes:

“70 new challenges, 38 new against-the-clock races (Burning Rides) and new ‘Road Rules’ record times for 64 streets.”

The new night-time mechanic also changes gameplay considerably:

“The lights on the bike switch on, the traffic thins out creating an all new environment for high speed racing and we trigger some night-specific gameplay – half of the new Burning Rides take place at night and are called Midnight Rides,”

This is all good Criterion. I just hope they add some new bike related medals as well, and give us ps3 owners Trophy support soon.

Asia gets Home in Autumn

Posted under News by Jake Rowe on 28 August 2008 50 views

Sony have confirmed that PS3 owners in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan will get access to the online virtual world this autumn.

Home is expected here in Autunm too and SCEE president David Reeves promised that it was well on track for that release.

It seems strange that both E3 and the Leipzig Games Convention have passed without a mention of Home’s release.

PSP Sells 10 Million Units

Posted under News by Graeme Tulip on 29 views

A lot of people have written off the PSP or at least they did for a long time. The fact is though (if my spidey senses are right) the PSP is going to make a HUGE comeback. You can feel it as developers begin to take the console more seriously and start to develop games specifically for the machine instead of nasty PS2 ports… mark my words Christmas onwards will be huge for the PSP.

Sony shows “mystery” PSN game

Posted under News by Jake Rowe on 33 views

Sony has revealed a new sci-fi tower defense game thats coming to PSN this Autumn. It’s called Savage Moon, and it looks pretty good.

“Savage Moon is a frantic, action-packed tower defense game in a gritty sci-fi setting,”

“You are tasked with protecting mining facilities from ravenous space bugs using some truly fearsome weaponry. And you’ll need as much strategy as firepower as you fend off wave after wave,” it adds.

“Each level in Savage Moon is set on an ‘Imoon’, or a living asteroid, and it is up to you to keep the mining facilities safe. These Imoons are rich in mineral deposits that humanity needs to survive, but such riches come with great risk as the native creatures living there will stop at nothing to end the mining.

“To defend the mines, you start off with machine gun towers and can expand your arsenal to include wide range of weaponry and heavy artillery. This is where your strategising skills come into play. It’s up to you when to upgrade, add new towers, or save your money, and your strategies will make the difference between escaping unscathed and watching the mines go up in flames.”

Hit the jump for the first screenshots.

Posted under News by Jake Rowe on 30 views

It hasn’t been officially announced yet but it’s rumored that firmware 2.5 on the PS3 will allow screen grabbing, so you can take your own screenshots of whatever it is your up to.

Since it’s only a rumor, how exactly you do this hasn’t been released.

Sony hasn’t even officially announced there will be a 2.5 update but i’m hoping there is.
