Sony: Home public beta this year

Posted under News by Jake Rowe on 28 November 2008 44 views

Sony are still saying that the open beta of PlayStation Home will be out before the end of 2008. They claim there will be no set release date and that it’ll just be there one day.

Well Sony, you’ve only got 33 days of 2008 left. Better get a move on.

Jack Buser the projects director says:

“… We’re excited about moving PlayStation Home into its open beta stage this year,”

“Once we make the move to open beta, everyone will have access to PlayStation Home,”

“PlayStation Home is a new innovative service unlike anything else on the market and we have taken the time to make sure that it’s a great service,” Buser said in explanation of its repeated delays. “This is a huge undertaking for the company and we want to deliver on what we’ve promised – a true 3D representation of the PlayStation community.

“What you see in PlayStation Home is just the frosting to the cake; we’ve created an entirely new platform for partners to create content for, and as an insider to what’s to come, it will be well worth the wait.”

Destroy all Humans PS3 not cancelled

Posted under News by Jake Rowe on 42 views

In Europe anyway.

After saying that DaH4: Path of the Furon was to be canned on PS3, THQ have said that it is only North America that isn’t getting the game.

It was cancelled in North America due to “development issues” but a THQ rep has confirmed that “Destroy all Humans: Path of the Furon will be released on both the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3 formats on February 13th 2009 across Europe,”

Good, I was starting to think that some developers were gonna start ignoring the PS3 again and just bringing out games on 360.

Why F.E.A.R 2 was banned in Australia

Posted under News by Kieran McGregor on 27 November 2008 30 views

fear.jpg

Just yesterday I informed you that F.E.A.R will be banned in Australia…now i’m going to tell you why.

It seems that blood plays a starring role in F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, with the Board finding that “all violence results in large blood spray”, which stains the interiors and covers objects, including the camera lens. Partially dismembered corpses and severed heads, all with “significant blood detail” are also featured, forming part of the scenery. Several scenes contain blood-soaked walls and floors, and the dead victims will not necessarily disappear – the Board citing one example of a level set in a hospital which sees post-action visuals including “civilian victims, doctors and nurses, lying dead on the ground in pools of blood”.

It seems that technology is not our friend, with the Board mentioning that today’s “enhanced graphics” and the “realistic behaviour of human and mutant foes” – while included to increase the enjoyment of the game also increase the playing impact of the violence “to a high level”.

As such, the Board has found that the cumulative effect of this type of violence is high – and therefore, the title “cannot be accommodated at the MA15+ classification”, seeing the game refused classification and effectively banned in this country.

Europe gets Resi 5 demo in 09

Posted under News by Jake Rowe on 46 views

Capcom has confirmed that a demo of Resident Evil 5 will be making it’s way to Japan on December 5th and will be getting to North America and Europe “later.” So probably in January then.

“Resident Evil 5 is still on track for the previously-announced Friday the 13th, March 2009, release in both North America and Europe,” say Capcom. “Fear not, we will also be seeing demos for both the 360 and PS3 versions of the game, but they will be hitting N. America a bit later than the Japanese demo. Stay tuned, more to come on the demos soon!”

Hopefully the demo will have a taster of the online co-op as well.

F.E.A.R 2 banned in Australia

Another harsh blow by the OFLC. Fear 2 has been rated RC meaning it has officially been banned in Australia. This is yet another added to the sadly large list of games that have now been edited or banned in Australia this generation.

Firmware 2.53 is out for PS3 tomorrow. It doesn’t do anything that your really gonna notice though and as a matter of fact, it’s not even worth telling you what it does.

But I will, it makes the internet browser support full screen for Adobe Flash Player content.

So when your sitting and wondering why your losing a half hour of playing time to an update, thats why.
