Considering the increasing marginalisation of Japanese games in the Western market, Sega’s potentially niche action title Bayonetta has proved that Eastern games can still deliver in the UK with a strong performance in the ELSPA GfK-ChartTrack video game charts. The title debuted in am impressive second place in the Xbox 360 listings with only Activision’s all-conquering Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 managing to outperform it last week.
Bayonetta also managed a third place finish in the PS3 charts, with Modern Warfare 2 and Sony’s popular Uncharted 2 pipping it to first and second respectively.
Also impressing was THQ’s Darksiders – another hack ‘n’ slash title. It managed a fourth place debut in the Xbox 360 listings and fifth place in the PS3 listings.
