Call of Duty Vietnam Details

call of duty vietnamAs usual, Treyarch will be bringing us our next fix of COD and this, rumour has it, will be set in Vietnam. The net is abuzz with ‘proof’ that we’ll be living it up amongst the foliage but how will we adapt to jungle warfare and does this mean even more places for the sneaky campers amongst you to hide like the cowardly dogs you are?

These days, Infinity Ward (COD2, MW & MW2) seem to limit map hiding spots and it obviously works but how do Treyarch do that in a jungle? My advice is include tropical diseases that you catch if you stay still for too long or submerge under water with a reed sticking out your mouth for air. Admittedly, we’d probably also see a drugs perk to ward off malaria and the likes but it’s a start.

Close quarter combat will likely be a more intense experience with bayonets and a fighting-style hand to hand element. Personally I’ll be selecting the machete as my second weapon and I’ll be taking people out one limb at a time. There will also be a ‘winning hearts and minds perk’ included that gives you the ability to bribe local villagers to hide you in their chicken coup and (depending on how much you gave them) then refuse to give up your location – even when their hands are forced over a hot stove.

There will be a lot of booby traps along the vein of hidden pits with spikes and trip wires that cover a greater distance than claymores. A new game play mode known as Ambush will give us the opportunity to lay in wait until just the right moment… then BAM! the signal is given by the designated leader and we all spring up at once for a last man standing cross fire. Finally trench warfare will be huge part of the game and great fun – especially when you’re being burned alive by my flame-thrower.
