The Club

A lot of you have seen me playing this and have been asking me what its like. I was surprised at this game as I was expecting something totally different from what it is. To put it simply its a first person shooter crossed with the Running Man (Arnold Schwarzenegger film) without the glitz. A secret organisation buys old buildings and makes people fight their way out of them – why? I’m not sure but if I get to shoot stuff I’m not that bothered.

The movement and shooting are great, you can do acrobatic style rolls to get out of trouble and a quick press of the Y button turns you about face so you can blow off the head (not literally) of the guy chasing you. Sometimes you need to get through the course as quickly as possible while getting as many points as you can by shooting bad guys and targets on the wall. Sometimes you simply have to survive for a certain period of time while wave after wave of victims (er.. bad guys) come at you. To get the achievements you have to complete the courses on one of the more difficult settings and find a lot of the secret targets.

The online is also pretty sweet but… only when you can get a game going. It’s the same old problem with xbox live – unless a game is either a week old or is called Call of Duty 4 there aren’t that many people playing it online. Nevertheless its solid without any real lag issues and the achievements (apart from one) are pretty realistic to get. I reckon this game is good for about 2 weeks of play and I’d give it a solid 8 out of ten.
